The idea
The whole property, one group
Everyone stays in one house, so nobody has to drive anywhere to find each other. The hour on the porch before dinner is usually the part people remember.
Wide halls, big rooms, eight fireplaces, a porch running the width of the front, and a lawn that ends at the water. An elevator serves both floors, so the upstairs is not off limits to anyone.

What people book it for
Family gatherings
Several generations under one roof for a week. Enough rooms that nobody is on top of anyone else, and one porch that everyone ends up on.
Milestone birthdays
A sixtieth, a seventieth, an anniversary. Long dinners, a boat, and whatever schedule you set.
Reunions
Old friends who have not been in the same house in years, or a family scattered across three states.
Fishing and sporting weekends
Early starts from the dock, lunch on the water, long evenings.
Trips with friends
Slow breakfasts, an afternoon on the sound, dinner outside. The most common booking we take.
Company retreats
Small senior groups who want somewhere that is not a conference hotel.
Where everyone ends up
The porch
Blue floorboards, rattan, and the water through the screens. It runs the width of the house and takes about twenty people.
Late
The game room
Cards, a drink, and a palm-frond chandelier with a monkey in it that the owner brought back from a hotel in St. Barts.
Dinner
The dining room
Paneled floor to ceiling in the wood the house was built from, under a coffered ceiling. Dinner moves in here when the weather turns.
